A mandatory character
Rules and technical standards governing air transportation are enacted:
- In France by DGAC
- Worldwide by ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization)
DGAC = Direction générale de l'aviation civile / General directorate of civil aviation
The conditions imposed by these bodies are not limited to regulations applicable to passengers but also include construction and maintenance of airport installations.
In this application GPS is an indispensable tool not only for on-board navigation. In fact, GPS is imperative for determining precise WGS84 coordinates of points along and around airports (runway thresholds, masts or other obstacles in the vicinity, for example).
Stake outs and surveys
TopoSat has carried out stake outs or surveys for many airports:
- Approach control and runway radars
- ILS (Instrument Landing System), landing aid systems
- VOR (VHF Omnidirectionnal Range), radio beacons located close to airports and air routes
- Beam points and compass card to set the ILS
- Height grid of the platforms
Multilateration on mode S
TopoSat has taken part in the implementation of several multilateration on mode S systems all over the world (Austria, Belgium, China (Hong Kong), England, France, India, Switzerland, Thailand, The Netherlands).
For more information about our services in that particular field, please consult the article published for XYZ, the journal of the French association of surveying (Association Française de Topographie).
