The beginnings TopoSat® was founded in 1990 by Bertrand Boullard, a surveying engineer who graduated from the French "grande école" ETP, as a company providing services focused on the use of GPS techniques. During those times, however, GPS was only in its early stages. The constellation was not yet complete, which limited the applications to a few very specific tasks. TopoSat® has ranked among the first companies using this technique in France, which now allows the company to benefit from a high level of expertise acquired through long and diversified experience. From surveying to consulting and training activities Since 1990, TopoSat® has been following the development of GPS positioning in all fields of application. Having at first limited its activities to establishing geodetic networks, TopoSat® has gradually evolved and diversified itself by turning to other fields of business. Its long experience in GPS techniques has naturally led the company to offer analysis and consulting services as well as training courses as a significant part of its activities. From the French to the international level GPS is particularly useful in wide open regions because it allows absolute positioning in regions where the geodetic infrastructure is limited. This is the reason why TopoSat® has worked overseas right from the beginning (mainly in the Maghreb countries and in French-speaking Africa). The development of digital orthophotography in the early 2000s has created a great demand for ground control point surveys. Thanks to its numerous clients, TopoSat® has taken part in GPS survey campaigns conducted in almost all large cities in continental Europe. The growing significance of Asia in the world economy has attracted lots of European or American players in the geographic information and infrastructure markets in that region of the world. Enjoying the trust of some of these companies, TopoSat® has carried out several jobs there on their behalf, beginning in 2004 (Hong Kong, India, Thailand...).
