Geodetic networks These were our first jobs when the company was founded in 1990. Such tasks are often associated with land consolidation or reallocation projects, but TopoSat has also established networks for cities upgrading to a geographic information system (GIS). Our main clients in this field of activity are registered surveyors or surveying companies. The cadastral administration (Direction régionale de Clermont Ferrand) had entrusted us with projects before purchasing its own GPS receivers. TopoSat has established dozens of networks all over France. Traversing If the area of interest is linear, it is recommended to establish a main traverse along the strip of study and to connect it to geodetic control stations distributed homogeneously (whenever possible) along the entire line. This main traverse, composed mostly of station pairs several kilometers apart, is completed by intermediate stations (every 200 to 300 m) from where the actual topographic survey is performed. These tasks are essential particularly for road, pipe works or railway stake outs. Put end to end, all traverses TopoSat has calculated would by far exceed the length of the meridian between Dunkirk and the Spanish border (the so-called "méridienne").
